Having a good understanding of safeguarding is fundamental in mediation.  In the context of separation, abuse may be intentional or unintentional but the effect on the child is the important consideration. Their well-being is paramount.

This short online course focuses on how a mediator screens for safeguarding concerns.

You work through an online set of materials before attending an interactive webinar that includes:

  1. What are you looking for or listening for? How to identify red flags of child abuse
  2. There will be a case study to examine and a discussion about the questions to ask the child and questions to ask the parents
  3. The trainer will talk about safeguarding vulnerable adults and children with neurodivergent needs or mental health concerns
  4. You will have a chance to ask questions.

You will be able to take away ideas to put into your practice straight away.

Following the webinar, you may wish to enroll on the full-length NFM Safeguarding course that includes considering the law, greater detail on what to look for, the differences with different ages, 2 case studies to explore, and how to carry out reporting and signposting.
