This course will take you through how mediation could be made safe in certain situations with safeguards.  We also look at what to do if you decide mediation is not suitable whilst briefly touching on reporting requirements.

With domestic abuse being a difficult subject, there are also reminders to look after yourself and to ensure you are benefitting from appropriate supervision to discuss these issues.  There are a range of resources to look at including some further sources at the end of the course.

The course aims to make you more confident with screening clients coming into mediation – whether you are completely new to mediation, or looking to brush-up on your existing skills.  It will give you a better idea of the flags to look out for and simple questions that can be asked in MIAM meetings.  It aims to also give you a general update on the legal situation regarding abuse and other areas that would be helpful to be aware of.
