Foundation Training Terms & Conditions

1. Fees and payment terms

Fees include access to the learning materials for the distance learning modules; face-to-face delivery of the course managed by an NFM trainer assessments by the trainers and all training materials given out on the course.

For in-person delivery only, refreshments will be provided during the day including lunch.

Accommodation and travel costs are not the responsibility of NFM. Information on local hotels may be provided without prejudice.

Full payment is due four weeks before the start date of the first module. Where this is not received, the place on the course will be withdrawn, although it may be possible to join a later course.

2. Cancellation or date changes

NFM reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the training course. In the event that delegates cannot be accommodated on an alternative course, a full refund will be given. NFM cannot be held responsible for any extra costs incurred as a result of a cancelled or re-scheduled course.

If you cancel your booking four weeks or more prior to the start date, NFM will refund the full course fees less an administration fee of £150. If you cancel your booking between two and four weeks prior to the start date, a 50% refund will be given. Two weeks or less prior to the start of the course or failure to attend will result in no refund being given.

Delegate substitutions for the whole course can be made up to three days prior to the start of the course with no charge providing the substitution has attended the Introduction to family mediation day and has submitted an application form.

Changing your booking to a later course will result in an administration fee of £150 if the changes are made four weeks or more in advance of the start date of the course. If you change your selected course start date within two to four weeks a 50% charge for the cost of the course will be made. Two weeks or less prior to the start of your selected course will incur the full cost of the course to be paid.

It is vitally important that you ensure you can be available for all of the scheduled dates of the course you have selected. Failure to attend any part of the two face-to-face modules will result in failure of the course. Assuming you successfully pass the course the Family Mediation Council (FMC) requirements to register as a trained mediator mean that you have attended the full 60 hours of learning.

3. Reasonable adjustment

NFM will do everything they can to make reasonable adjustments to the course in order to meet delegate requirements. Delegates need to make their requirements clear before booking and wait for confirmation that these needs can be met. The assessment process will require taking part in role plays and other tasks in order to ascertain the level of skill reached. If you have a disability that may require us to make a reasonable adjustment please contact us before booking your course.

5. Qualification

Delegates should note that successful completion of the NFM Family Mediation Training course requires delegates to demonstrate an understanding of the underlying principles of and competence in the skills concerned.

Trainers use assessment documents which specifically identify these competence standards and you will be graded against them. You will be shown these assessment documents on the course as you progress. No guarantee is given that every participant attending will achieve the qualification.
