Family Mediation Foundation Training skill requirements
a) PROFESSIONAL AND ETHICAL
- Understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities (ESSENTIAL)
- Education to A level or equivalent to include English and Mathematics at GCSE level grade C or above, or other evidence of good literacy and numeracy (ESSENTIAL)
- Education to degree or diploma level or equivalent or significant work experience with responsibility for the conduct of interpersonal relations and ability to study at QCF Level 5 (ESSENTIAL)
- Understanding of and commitment to principles of confidentiality (DESIRABLE)
- Significant experience of working with families (DESIRABLE)
- Understanding of children’s rights as they might present themselves in family mediation (DESIRABLE)
- Significant professional experience of conflict management with other client groups or in other settings (DESIRABLE)
b) PERSONAL AND PRACTICAL
- Willingness to learn new skills through engagement with all aspects of the Family Mediation Training Programme(ESSENTIAL)
- Energy, enthusiasm and personal responsibility for adult learning and development as a Family Mediator (ESSENTIAL)
- Availability for ALL the advertised training dates (ESSENTIAL)
- Be computer literate in order to access online training platforms and materials (ESSENTIAL)
- Availability for and committed to personal supervision and group supervision according to FMC guidelines (ESSENTIAL)
- Committed to attaining standards of professional competence within and FMC Guidelines (ESSENTIAL)
