National Family Mediation (NFM) is on the lookout for a dynamic and committed individual to join our esteemed board of trustees.
As a registered charity, the governance of National Family Mediation is overseen by its Board of Trustees, and as a Trustee, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our organisation and contributing to our mission.
Over the past few years, we have professionalised the Board and now have specialists as Trustees from leading household companies such as Sainsbury’s, CO-OP and Santander. We are refreshing the Board this year, due to natural rotation, and are looking for a qualified lawyer to join the Board as a Trustee, with the usual Charitable Board responsibilities.
- Alongside typical trustee responsibilities and input into management plans and strategy, the new Trustee will offer legal and governance guidance to the Board and CEO.
- Strong governance and business advisory experience is essential as your input will not be limited to legal matters.
- Knowledge of mediation, divorce and family courts is advantageous
- NFM works with the MoJ on Legal aid and the Mediation Voucher Schemes. Insight into government operation would be helpful.
This is a NXD position. As a charity, NFM offer no remuneration. The charity is based in Exeter but operates across England and Wales. Board meetings are held four times a year, predominantly online. But we aim for one meeting in Central London per annum. Typically a Trustee spends 10- 12 days pa. But there are may opportunities to get more involved if desired.
