Workshop: Acceptance, truth and lies

Clients offer us various versions of the truth in mediation, and how we deal with it is important. But why is it important, and who to?

We examine whether it matters and whether you can tell when people are lying. Alongside looking at these moral behaviours, this day aims to refresh some of the softer mediation skills which can be very useful in these situations. The workshop is suitable for trainee and accredited mediators.

The workshop will consist of a mixture of presentation, discussion and opportunities for practice.

To include:

  • Reframing
  • Listening – what are we listening for
  • Positions, interests and needs
  • The importance of acknowledgement and empathy
  • Normalising/mutualising
  • Reflection on own practice

Date: Thursday 24th October 2019, London, 10.00am – 4.00pm, with lunch provided.

Trainer: Jackie Norton

Costs: £160 NFM members; £255 non-members
