Bullying and Truancy - For Your Children

When parents separate, it can be very stressful for the children. Often other children notice a change too. If your child is crying a lot at school, this might lead to bullying which in turn can lead to truancy. Often children find it hard to tell their parents what is going on because they are conscious you have a lot on your plate already. They might be afraid you will go storming into school in a public way and make it worse. It is important to talk calmly to the school once you have spotted there is a problem so that they can act and monitor it too. Have a look at your school’s anti-bullying policy or talk to their pastoral teachers who have a responsibility to sort this out.

Outside organisations, like Family Lives and Bullying UK can be very useful.
